Lake Charles, Louisiana – A 14-year-old student at Lake Charles Charter Academy was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on October 29 after allegedly making a threat to bring a gun to school and shoot everyone. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) detectives were dispatched to the school at approximately 12:30 p.m. to investigate the incident.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the student had made the threat, prompting a swift response from law enforcement. The student was subsequently arrested and charged with terrorizing-menacing, a serious offense that carries significant consequences.
This incident marks the seventh arrest made by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office this school year in reference to threats made by students. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office takes these types of incidents very seriously, and investigators work closely with school officials to identify and address potential threats before they escalate into violent situations.
Detective Mika Liptak is leading the investigation and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s actions.
