Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies Involved in Fatal Shooting in South Lake Charles

June 20, 2020, at approximately 11:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Highland Street in South Lake Charles in reference to serving an arrest warrant for domestic abuse and child endangerment.

Upon arrival at the home, deputies were able to secure the child, who was located inside and move him to a safe area away from the residence. Moments later, when deputies attempted to execute the warrant the suspect refused to comply with deputies commands. The suspect charged at deputies with a machete at which time deputies shot the suspect. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso has requested the Louisiana State Police conduct an investigation into the officer-involved shooting incident; all questions regarding the shooting should be deferred to them.
