Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man for Four Counts of Child Desertion

From the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office – On November 5 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on Gulf Highway in Lake Charles in reference to several children being left home alone.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who advised they were notified that a 3 year old, 2-year-old and two 6-month-olds had been left alone for an extended period. While on the scene the father of the children, Marcus J. Montgomery, 28, Lake Charles, returned to the residence.

When detectives spoke with him he stated he left the residence to walk to the store. Further investigation revealed the children had been left home alone for over an hour.
Montgomery was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 4 counts of child desertion. Judge Sharon Wilson set his bond at $2,000.

The children were released to the care of their mother.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Jesse Morris is the arresting deputy on this case and Detective Shelley Trahan is the lead investigator.
