Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrests Lake Charles Man for Kidnapping & Attempted Robbery

From CPSO – On July 1 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a home in Iowa in reference to an attempted robbery.

When detectives arrived on scene they spoke with the victim who stated while he was staying at another residence, Tyrone D. Bartie, 46, 132 Reid Street, Lake Charles, knocked on the door and demanded money from him. The victim advised detectives Bartie led him to believe he was armed and threatened his life, forcing him to get in Bartie’s car. The victim then stated they drove to another location at which time Bartie picked up an unknown man. Bartie then drove the victim to his residence and threatened to kill him if he did not go get the money. The victim stated he was able to go inside his home at which time another resident inside the home called law enforcement, and the suspects fled the scene.

Later the same day, after further investigation Judge Ron Ware signed a warrant in the amount of $120,000 for Bartie’s arrest. On July 6 he was located, arrested, and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd-degree kidnapping; and attempted 1st-degree robbery.
