Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrests Lake Charles Man for First-Degree Rape of Minor Family Member

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to a local hospital on July 23 in response to a report of rape. Throughout the investigation, it was reported to detectives that Joseph R. Perry, a 45-year-old from Lake Charles, Louisiana, had committed sexual abuse against a family member who was younger than 12 years old. 

The investigation uncovered that the abuse had taken place multiple times since 2023. 

Perry was arrested and taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center after additional inquiries, where he was charged with first-degree rape. Judge Kendrick Guidry ruled that he should be held in custody without bond. 

Detective Jeff Atkinson from the CPSO Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation in this particular case. 

The investigation is ongoing.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
