Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Deputies to Participate in “No Shave November” to Raise Awareness and Funding for the Fight Against Cancer

Lake Charles, Louisiana – If you see Calcasieu Parish deputies with more facial hair than usual, it’s because Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso announced on October 31, 2022, that deputies with the CPSO will participate in “No Shave November,” a nationwide effort to raise awareness and funding for the fight against cancer.

“Our policy normally prohibits facial hair; other than permitted mustaches,” says CPSO Sheriff Mancuso. “For the month of November, I am suspending that policy for deputies who choose to donate and allowing them to forgo shaving while simultaneously raising money for charity. We have also added some stipulations for the women, as well, if they would like to participate. This is a fun way to build comradery and have friendly competition. This will be the first year our department has participated and I am hoping it will be successful and something we can continue doing each year.”

To participate, CPSO deputies will be able to contribute any amount of donation they like. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society, while the remainder will be donated to a local organization selected by the department that generates the most funds.

All CPSO deputies will resume their normal grooming standards policy on December 1.
