Lake Charles, Louisiana - Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory announced that all Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) Sheriff's Sales will transition to an online format beginning October 1, 2025, marking a significant shift from traditional in-person auctions.

The new digital auction system requires participants to create an account on www.bid4assets.com before bidding on properties. All bidders must submit a $1,000 deposit to participate in the auctions, though this deposit serves multiple purposes for buyers' convenience.

The deposit amount can be applied directly toward any successful purchase, refunded to unsuccessful bidders, or maintained in the account for future auction participation. This flexible deposit system allows regular auction participants to keep funds available for multiple sales without repeatedly transferring money.

The online platform offers several technological advantages over traditional in-person sales. Bidders can access auction watchlists to track specific properties, receive email notifications about auction updates, and utilize proxy bidding features that automatically bid on their behalf up to predetermined amounts.

Despite the digital transition, the auction schedule remains unchanged. Sheriff's sales will continue every Wednesday at 10 a.m., maintaining the consistent timing that regular participants have come to expect.

"This transition makes the process more accessible and convenient for the public," Sheriff Guillory stated. "Bidders will be able to participate from anywhere, using their computer or smartphone, without having to attend an in-person sale."

The online format removes geographical barriers that previously limited participation to those who could physically attend sales. Potential buyers can now participate from any location with internet access, potentially increasing competition and participation in the auctions.

Sheriff's sales typically involve properties seized for unpaid taxes, foreclosures, or other legal judgments.

Individuals seeking information about upcoming CPSO Sheriff's Sales can contact the sheriff's office at (337) 491-3733. The department's website at cpso.com features a dedicated Sheriff Sales section displaying current auction properties.

Those requiring technical assistance with the Bid4Assets platform can reach customer support at (301) 650-9193.
