Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Again Warning Public of Recurring Warrant Scam

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff is once again warning the public of a recurring warrant scam.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso is again informing the public of a recurring scam that has resurfaced in our community. The scam involves receiving a fraudulent phone call from an individual posing as a current or former deputy of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. The caller falsely claims that a warrant has been issued for the victim’s arrest due to their failure to report for a jury summons.

The caller then informs the victim that they must pay a fee or face arrest by a member of the CPSO. It is important to note that this is a scam and Sheriff Mancuso wants all residents to be aware that a legitimate arrest warrant is typically served in person by law enforcement officials.

In rare cases, a law enforcement official may contact an individual regarding a warrant, but they will never request any form of payment. Residents should be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
