Calcasieu Parish Schools to Remain Closed Thursday & Friday

The Calcasieu Parish School Board has now decided to close all schools for the rest of the week. The school board previously said they were going to reopen most schools Thursday, May 20, but have decided to wait.
All Calcasieu Parish School Board schools and facilities will be closed for the remainder of the week. With the weather predictions continuing to change and more rain in the forecast, we must put the safety of our students, faculty, and staff first. With portions of our area still dealing with flooding, we do not feel that opening our schools at this time is a safe decision.
After the year we’ve all experienced, we are saddened to once again be closing our doors, but we will be very happy to welcome everyone back on Monday, May 24. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, as these types of decisions are never easy to make.
Graduation ceremonies for our high school seniors are still currently happening as scheduled. We will notify families if changes occur.

All Calcasieu Parish School Board schools and facilities will be open Thursday, May 20, with the exception of F.K. White Middle School.
F.K. White Middle School will be closed for the remainder of the week. Following today’s building assessment, additional damages were located from Monday’s weather event. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff will always be our main priority, and we feel like this decision is best for all stakeholders.
Faculty and staff members will return to campus on Monday, May 24, while students will return to campus on Tuesday, May 25.
