Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – In anticipation of Hurricane Francine’s landfall, the Calcasieu Parish School Board has made the decision to close all schools and facilities on Tuesday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11. This decision was made after consulting with area emergency officials and following a weather briefing on September 9.

According to a statement released by the school board, the closure is a precautionary measure to give families adequate time to prepare for the incoming weather system. The school board meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening has been rescheduled for September 17.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board will continue to closely monitor the weather and provide updates to the community in the coming days. An update on the status of school for Thursday, September 12, is expected as the weather system progresses and gets closer to landfall.
