Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - Calcasieu Parish School Board Superintendent Dr. Shannon LaFargue has officially announced his retirement, set to take effect on June 28, 2024. Dr. LaFargue assumed the role of Superintendent on July 1, 2022, following his prior positions as the district's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Academic Officer.

Expressing gratitude towards the Board and district staff, Dr. LaFargue stated, “I thank the Board and district staff for their continued service and commitment to public education." He reflected on his 34-year career in education, emphasizing his involvement in both higher education and K-12 levels. Throughout this time, Dr. LaFargue aimed to positively impact individuals' lives and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of teachers, administrators, and staff in the educational field.
