Calcasieu Parish School Board Reports 3 Incidents at Area High Schools

Calcasieu Parish – On March 17, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish School Board announced that they were handling several incidents involving LaGrange High School, Sulphur High School (Main and 9th Grade Campus), and Vinton High School. Information from CPSB for each school is listed below. They indicated that in each situation, all students, faculty, and staff are safe, and all normal daily activities have resumed.

LaGrange High – The district was notified this morning of a possible weapon on LaGrange High’s campus. The situation was handled quickly by school administration with assistance from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. No weapon was located.

Sulphur High (Main and 9th Grade Campuses) – The district was notified by law enforcement that a bomb threat was made towards Sulphur High’s campus. A threat assessment was completed along with a thorough investigation involving the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. The situation was handled quickly by school administration with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office.

Vinton High – The district was notified by law enforcement that a bomb threat was made towards Vinton High’s campus. A threat assessment was completed along with a thorough investigation involving the Vinton Police Department. The situation was handled quickly by school administration with assistance from the Vinton Police Department.
