Calcasieu Parish School Board Extends Temporary Closure of 2 Schools Due to COVID-19

Calcasieu Parish – On January 13, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish School Board announced that S.J. Welsh Middle School in Lake Charles and LeBlanc Middle in Sulphur will remain closed tomorrow, January 14, 2022. CPSB indicated that there are still several members of staff that are quarantined due to testing positive for COVID-19 or due to potential COVID-19 exposure. The school board is still unable to obtain all needed substitutes to conduct face-to-face instruction. Virtual learning opportunities will continue to be available to students based on staff availability. Parents are asked to have their students check their CPSB email frequently for instructional updates from the school.
Calcasieu Parish – On January 11, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish School Board announced that S.J. CPSB indicated that many members of the staff are quarantined due to testing positive for COVID-19 or due to potential COVID-19 exposure. At this point, it is not possible for the Calcasieu Parish schools to obtain all needed substitutes to conduct face-to-face instruction for the next two days.
Virtual learning opportunities will be available to students based on staff availability. Calcasieu Parish School Board asks parents to have their student check their CPSB email frequently for instructional updates from the school.
CPSB also said that they appreciate the understanding of parents and guardians and all that they have done to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These decisions are not taken lightly, but the safety of all stakeholders will always be the number one priority.
