Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy Graduates 132nd Basic Academy Class

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy graduated its 132nd Basic Academy class, marking the completion of an intensive training program for 42 officers representing 12 agencies in the Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) area. The graduation ceremony was a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the new officers, who underwent over 500 hours of instruction in all phases of basic law enforcement.

The graduating class was led by Ronald Arthur of the DeRidder Police Department, who was selected as class president. Seth Robare, also from the DeRidder Police Department, received the Academic Award for his outstanding academic performance.

Several awards were presented to recognize the officers’ exceptional skills in specific areas. Chase Rock from the Lake Charles Police Department took home the top firearms award, followed by Jeremiah Duff from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and Noah Bellard from the McNeese University Police. Wesley Antoine from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was honored with the Defensive Tactics Award, while Brandon Collins, also from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, received the Physical Training Award.

The graduating officers have passed the Louisiana Peace Officer Standard Testing (POST) exam and are now certified as Basic Peace Officers. They will join the ranks of law enforcement agencies in the SWLA area, serving and protecting their communities.

The Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy, established in 1974, provides accredited training to law enforcement agencies in the parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis. The academy is administered by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory and is located in Lake Charles.
