Calcasieu Parish Public Library Announces Steps to Reopen Starting May 18
From Calcasieu Parish Public Library:
Calcasieu Parish Public Library to Slowly Reopen Physical Locations!
The Calcasieu Parish Public Library is excited to announce a gradual reopening of its physical locations and a measured introduction of programs and services that were put on pause as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis. To start, book drops at all branch locations will begin receiving book returns on Monday, May 18th. This will allow staff to collect books and quarantine items for 5 days. On Tuesday, May 26th, limited curbside service will begin at all branch locations. The service will be available Monday through Friday from 9 am – 6 pm, with the exception of the Hayes and Starks branches, which will conduct curbside services during their normal branch hours. In addition to the curbside service, the Library To-Go outreach service will implement a “Drop and Swap” delivery service to homebound individuals and families and all branches will also provide limited printing services (up to 20 pages free for critical needs) for all patrons.
Items that will be accepted Monday: Books, ILL materials, magazines, DVDs, Blurays, audiobooks, CDs, and games.
The library asks that you please keep the following items until further notice: Laptops, hotspots, iPads, American Girl dolls, and sensory backpacks, cake pans, or any other item that does not normally return in the book drop.
If you cannot make it to a book drop, due dates will continue to be extended until the library branches are open completely.
All returned items will be quarantined for five (5) days to adequately eliminate all germs on surfaces.
Curbside Pickup Services
Curbside pickup services at all locations with the exception of The Maplewood Outreach Center will begin Tuesday, May 26. The Maplewood Outreach Center will offer delivery services. There will be a limit of 10 items per library card, and the loan period will be four weeks. You will not be allowed to renew items at this time.
