Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Makes Announcement Regarding Discolored Water in District 5
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – Customers of Waterworks District 5 in Wards 3 and 8 are experiencing discolored water due to fire department hydrant testing. The district is working to minimize impact and recommends refraining from using water during testing, and running faucets for 2 minutes to clear discoloration.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced on January 18, 2023, that customers of Waterworks District 5 in Wards 3 and 8 have been experiencing discolored water as a result of the local fire department testing hydrants. CPPJ indicated that the water district is aware of the situation and is working to minimize customer impact. The district recommends the following to help alleviate any problems and avoid potential future difficulties:
If you see the fire department testing hydrants in your neighborhood, refrain from using water for the duration of the test. If you have discolored water in your home, run the faucets for about two minutes to see if it will clear. If the problem persists, contact the district at 337-721-3754 so that staff can flush the discolored water from the lines.
