Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Announces Office Closures and Family-Friendly Area for Mardi Gras
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has announced office closures and a family-friendly area for Mardi Gras.
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) announced that all departments will be closed on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, for Mardi Gras. Offices will reopen on Wednesday, February 22.
Customers of Waste Management will have their garbage and trash collected as usually scheduled. Waste Management may be reached at 337-436-7229 if you have any questions about the pickup schedule, or you can visit wm.com/alerts for updates.
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week, the Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers in Lake Charles and Sulphur will be closed. The locations will reopen on February 23.
A reminder that “The Zone,” a family-friendly, alcohol- and tobacco-free area for families with children and teens, will be open on Mardi Gras from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the parade route – in the empty parking lot between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan Street.
A live DJ, laser tag, an obstacle course, a bounce house, train rides, a game truck, hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, and soft drinks will be available. The event is free of charge.
