Lake Charles, Louisiana – Law enforcement professionals from across Calcasieu Parish gathered in Lake Charles today to participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, an event benefiting Special Olympics Louisiana. Hosted by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO), the run brought together officers from multiple agencies, including McNeese State University Police Department, Louisiana State Police Troop D, Probation and Parole, the Marshal’s Office, and Lake Charles Police Department.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a nationwide initiative that raises awareness and support for Special Olympics, an organization dedicated to providing sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The torch relay, a symbolic act representing the “Flame of Hope,” highlights law enforcement’s commitment to supporting inclusivity and athletic opportunities for all.

The event is not just a run; it’s a coordinated group effort, with officers taking turns carrying the torch along the route to demonstrate unity and support for Special Olympics athletes.
