Calcasieu Parish Launches 2024 Summer Food Service Program for Children

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Human Services Department, in collaboration with the City of Lake Charles, is set to launch the 2024 Summer Food Service Program on Monday, June 3. This initiative aims to provide free meals to children aged 18 and under at multiple locations across the parish.

From June 3 to July 26, lunch will be served daily, Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 12 designated sites. Notably, the program will observe the Juneteenth holiday on Wednesday, June 19, and the Fourth of July holiday on Thursday, July 4, during which sites will be closed.

The Summer Food Service Program is designed to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have access to nutritious meals during the summer months. No registration is required, and meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is open to children of all ages, up to 18 years old, and participation is not limited by race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.

  • First Baptist Church, 401 S. Huntington St., Sulphur
  • Hamilton Christian Academy, 1415 8th St., Lake Charles
  • LaGrange High School, 3420 Louisiana Ave., Lake Charles
  • MLK Center, 2009 Simmons St., Lake Charles
  • Moss Bluff Middle School, 297 Park Road, Moss Bluff
  • Sulphur Housing Authority, 312 Brooks St., Sulphur
  • Sulphur High Ninth Grade Campus, 600 Willow Ave., Sulphur
  • Washington-Marion High School, 2802 Pineview St., Lake Charles
  • Westlake Multi-Purpose Complex, 1221 Sampson St., Westlake
  • Western Heights Elementary School, 1100 Elizabeth St., Westlake
  • W.T. Henning Elementary School, 774 Henning Drive, Sulphur.

In addition to the lunch program, four locations will also offer breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Western Heights Elementary School, 1100 Elizabeth St., Westlake
  • Westlake Multi-Purpose Complex, 1221 Sampson St., Westlake
