Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - Calcasieu Parish is embarking on a significant infrastructure project to improve its water service and support future growth. The District 5 to District 12 Waterline Connection, a 9.5-mile waterline project, aims to link multiple water districts, providing a reliable source of public potable water to areas that currently rely on private wells. This upgrade will not only enhance service but also improve the resilience of the water system, especially during natural disasters.

The project will connect District 5 to District 12, allowing for connections to privately-owned water systems and reducing regulatory burdens. This initiative will provide these private systems with access to the public water system, alleviating some of the responsibilities associated with maintaining their own water supply.

In addition to the District 5 to District 12 connection, the parish is also undertaking the District 5 to District 8 Waterline Connection. This project will further strengthen the water supply for East Calcasieu Parish by establishing a permanent link between Districts 5 and 8. This connection will ensure continued service during emergencies, providing a safeguard against water disruptions.

To support these improvements, key infrastructure projects are underway, including the construction of an elevated storage tank and a booster station along Highway 397. The elevated storage tank will increase water storage capacity, while the booster station will enhance water pressure. A section of the existing waterline along Highway 397 will also be upgraded to accommodate these improvements.

The project is estimated to cost $26.1 million and is expected to be completed by December 2026. Construction and right-of-way acquisition are currently underway, marking a significant milestone in the parish's efforts to modernize its water infrastructure.

This investment in Calcasieu Parish's water infrastructure will not only support growth but also provide a reliable source of clean water for residents, businesses, and institutions. By upgrading its water system, the parish is taking a proactive approach to addressing the needs of its community, ensuring that it remains a desirable place to live, work, and invest.
