Lake Charles, LA - A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputy was terminated and arrested Thursday following allegations of online solicitation of a minor stemming from a 2020 incident in Texas.

David Q. Williams, 34, was taken into custody on April 11 after the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a criminal warrant for his arrest. Williams was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of online solicitation of a minor, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

The charges relate to an incident involving a girl under the age of 16 that allegedly occurred in 2020. Sheriff Stitch Guillory terminated Williams's employment immediately upon his arrest.

Authorities have indicated that Williams will be extradited to Texas to face the charges filed against him. Online solicitation of a minor is a serious offense that typically involves using the internet or electronic communication to engage in sexual conversations with someone believed to be underage.

The investigation appears to have been led by Texas law enforcement, though details about how the alleged crime was discovered or reported have not been released.

The sheriff's office has not released additional information about Williams's tenure with the department or whether he was on duty at the time of the alleged 2020 incident.

Representatives from the Texas Department of Public Safety have not yet commented on the specifics of their investigation or the timeline for Williams's extradition.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
