Lake Charles, Louisiana – On Friday, March 7, at approximately 3:00 a.m., deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) responded to reports of multiple individuals breaking into vehicles in the parking lot of a local casino in Lake Charles. Surveillance footage prompted the call, leading law enforcement to investigate the suspicious activity.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered a group of four individuals inside a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that matched the descriptions provided by casino staff. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Jamarcus D. Green, 20, Ladarius D. Demouchet, 19, a 17-year-old minor, and Kebba K. Verdin, 29, all from Lafayette.
According to reports from CPSO, a search of the SUV yielded significant evidence, including a pill bottle that had been reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the casino. In addition to the pill bottle, deputies found two plastic bags containing suspected marijuana, two bags of suspected methamphetamines, one bag of suspected cocaine, and various items of drug paraphernalia. The deputies also discovered two firearms, one of which had been modified with a fully automatic switch, a device that allows a semi-automatic firearm to fire continuously with a single trigger pull.
All four suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Charges varied among the individuals. Green and Ladarius Demouchet faced multiple charges, including simple burglary, theft of less than $1,000, two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS II), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of machine guns, and illegal carrying of a weapon during the commission of a crime. Judge Tony Fazzio set Green’s bond at $169,000 and Ladarius’ bond at $168,000.
The 17-year-old minor was charged with illegal possession of a handgun, two counts of possession of CDS II, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of machine guns, and illegal carrying of a weapon during the commission of a crime. His bond was set at $144,000 by Judge Fazzio.
Verdin, who has prior felony convictions, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of CDS II, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of machine guns, and illegal carrying of a weapon during the commission of a crime. His bond was set at $234,000.
