The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Facility Management Department will temporarily close the boat launch at Intracoastal Park for construction work, affecting evening and morning access for boaters.
According to parish officials, the launch will be closed from 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, through 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. During this period, boats will not be able to launch or be retrieved from the site.
Intracoastal Park, located at 7955 Intracoastal Park Road and managed by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, will otherwise remain open, but launch access will be unavailable while crews complete the scheduled work.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Facility Management Department did not provide additional details about the specific construction activities.
Residents and visitors who regularly use the Intracoastal Park boat launch are encouraged to plan ahead, adjusting trip times to avoid the closure window. Boaters with vessels already in the water should ensure they can return and load out either before 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 or after 1 p.m. on Jan. 12, when the launch is expected to reopen.
The closure is limited to the boat launch itself, and no broader park shutdown has been announced based on the information provided.
