Calcasieu Parish Announces ‘Let’s Talk Drainage’ Sessions To Discuss Flooding and Drainage in the Parish
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – On May 5, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury announced that their Division of Engineering and Public Works and Calcasieu Parish Regional Watershed Management will host a four-part webinar series called “Let’s Talk Drainage.”
The goal of this series is to describe the various elements that contribute to Calcasieu Parish’s current flooding vulnerabilities, explain various mitigation strategies and associated costs, and develop an overall process for mitigating these vulnerabilities within acceptable limits.
This first session will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This session will provide an overview of the work completed thus far, as well as a brief preview of each upcoming session. Allen R. Wainwright, Director of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Division of Engineering and Public Works; Patrick J. Landry of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative; and Jeanne Arceneaux Hornsby, Director of Engineering for C.H. Fenstermaker and Associates will be among the speakers.

“It is important that the citizens of Calcasieu Parish watch these webinars because flooding has affected all of us,” said Terry Frelot, Assistant Director of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Division of Engineering and Public Works. “To effectively plan for floods, you must first understand why the flooding occurs.”
