Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – In observance of Independence Day, all Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Friday, July 4, with offices set to reopen Monday, July 7. This closure affects all Calcasieu Parish administrative services throughout the parish, including Lake Charles, Sulphur, and surrounding communities. The holiday, recognized as a federal and local public holiday, is a time when many government functions pause operations to allow employees to observe the occasion with their families.

Despite office closures, Waste Management customers in Calcasieu Parish can expect regular garbage and trash pickup services to continue uninterrupted on July 4. Residents are encouraged to visit the Waste Management alert website or call 337-436-7229 for the most current updates or to clarify their pickup schedules. This ensures that disposal services remain consistent, preventing any unnecessary inconvenience for households and businesses.

Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers in Sulphur and Lake Charles will also close on July 4. The centers, located at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur and 5500-B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles, will reopen on Saturday, July 5. These facilities typically operate from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday, and remain closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Residents planning to dispose of large or unusual items should make arrangements around the holiday schedule to ensure access to these drop-off sites.

Additionally, the Summer Food Service Plan will suspend operations on July 4 in line with other parish departments, resuming service on Monday, July 7. This program provides essential nutritional support for local families during the summer and is a critical resource for many school-aged children.
