Bundick Lake Drawdown Beginning October 7 for Maintenance and Hurricane Repairs
DeRidder, Louisiana – On October 6, 2022, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) asked that the Bundick Lake drawdown structure be opened on Friday, October 7, 2022, to allow for the replacement of the drawdown gate and hurricane-related repairs.
The gate is expected to remain open until the spring of 2023.
Opening the gate allows workers to work on safety buoys/signage at the spillway and repairs to the drawdown structure. Some hurricane-related damage to the rails at the outfall of the drawdown structure will be rectified.
The lake will be drawn down beginning October 7, 2022, until it reaches an elevation of 79.25′. After that, a 90-day drawdown will be maintained for Phase 1 of the construction.
When Phase 1 is finished, the structure will be closed to allow for a return to the pool stage. Phase 2 can be completed without requiring any drawdown.
The project at Bundick Lake is expected to take one year to complete.
