Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – In a unanimous decision, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury appointed Brent Clement as the interim District 15 Police Juror during a special meeting held on May 20. Clement steps into the role following the unexpected passing of Tony Tramonte, 54, on April 29.

Clement is no stranger to the responsibilities of a Police Juror. He previously held the District 12 seat from 2000 to 2008. Additionally, he served as the interim District 12 Police Juror from June 2011 to January 2012, filling the unexpired term of Ellis Hassien, who had resigned.

“I am honored to have been chosen by the Police Jury to represent and serve the people of District 15. It is a great responsibility,” Clement stated. “I am committed to upholding the values and principles of Tony Tramonte, and I will work to ensure that our Parish continues to thrive.”

A special election will be held on November 5, 2024, to fill the remainder of the current police jury term, which extends until 2027. If necessary, a runoff election will take place on Saturday, December 7.

The appointment of Clement ensures that District 15 continues to have representation in the Police Jury, maintaining the functioning and governance of the parish.
