Boil Advisory Issued in Calcasieu Parish for Water District Five South of Swift Plant Road
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A boil advisory has been issued in Calcasieu Parish for Water District Five South of Swift Plant Road.
Calcasieu Waterworks District No. 5 customers in Wards 3 and 8 south of Swift Plant Road are advised by have been advised to boil their water before using it until further notice.
The advisory was issued by the district due to a water main break on LA 397 that has resulted in the closure of valves in the area for repairs.
Customers are urged to disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing their teeth, or preparing food by boiling it for a full minute in a clean container. To eliminate the flat taste, residents can shake the water in a clean bottle, transfer it from one clean container to another, or add a pinch of salt per quart of water boiled. The boil advisory will be lifted as soon as the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals’ Office of Public Health gives the all-clear.
