From the City of Sulphur – Effective January 9th, 2020, the boil advisory for the City of Sulphur has been rescinded. Water samples tested by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health have tested negative for coliform bacteria.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Original information published January 7, 2020:

From the City of Sulphur – Due to a 12-inch water line break on Prater Road, water pressure in certain areas may have dipped below the required levels. The City of Sulphur is issuing a Precautionary Boil Advisory from Beverly Place east to the city limit line and East Lee/Stephanie Drive south to Maplewood Drive including the South side of the 4400 Block of Maplewood Drive.

If you were without water in this area, run faucets until water runs clear then take precaution and boil water before consumption.

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled).

The City of Sulphur will notify the affected areas once clear samples have been received from the State Laboratory.
