Bicyclist Killed in Hit and Run Crash Near Kinder

Louisiana State Troopers are asking the public for their assistance in locating the hit-and-run vehicle and driver involved in a fatal crash near Kinder, Louisiana.
From the Louisiana State Police – On July 15, 2021, shortly after midnight, Louisiana State Police Troop D was notified of a fatal hit and run crash involving a bicyclist on Louisiana Highway 383 near Ikes Road about 3 miles west of Kinder. The crash claimed the life of 44-year-old Jamie Fontenot of Scott.
The preliminary investigation revealed Fontenot was riding a bicycle south on LA 383 when she was struck by an unknown southbound vehicle. After striking Fontenot, the vehicle fled the crash scene.
Fontenot suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A toxicology sample was collected from Fontenot and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers are asking the public for their assistance in locating the hit-and-run vehicle and driver. Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop D at 337-491-2511.
Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 19 deaths in 2021.
