Bell City Woman Arrested for Alleged Cruelty to Animals

Lake Charles, LA –  On September 22, 2021, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office reported that on September 9, 2021, CPSO detectives received a complaint from an individual who stated he had located his missing cat, deceased, in his neighbor’s ditch. He further advised detectives he believed the cat had been shot. After further investigation, detectives discovered the victim’s neighbor, Mandy C. Bellow, 45, of Bell City, LA had allegedly shot the cat with a pellet gun and threw it in her ditch. On September 17, 2021, a warrant was issued for Bellow’s arrest.

On September 21, 2021, Bellow was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to animals. Judge Tony Fazzio set her bond at $65,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
