Baton Rouge Homicide Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting on East Mason Street

Baton Rouge, Louisiana - A 19-year-old male, Jaymie Thomas, is being sought by Baton Rouge Police Homicide detectives in connection with the murder of 55-year-old Marcus Spears. Spears' body was discovered on October 9, 2024, in a grassy field located in the 3000 block of East Mason Street.

According to authorities, Thomas is wanted on charges of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are urging anyone with information about Thomas' whereabouts to come forward.

Residents who may have information about the case are encouraged to contact the Baton Rouge Police Department's Homicide Division at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and the identity of the informant will be protected.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
