Barbe High School Student Arrested by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for Threat

Published September 23, 2019

On September 23, 2019, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were notified in reference to a threat from a student at Barbe High School in Lake Charles.

During the initial investigation detectives learned last night that the 16-year-old boy had posted a video to his social media. In the video the boy made a comment about Barbe High School while waving an airsoft gun. After interviewing the boy he was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso and the Calcasieu Parish Superintendent of Schools are in constant communication and have a zero tolerance approach for any type of threat regarding any school in Calcasieu Parish. Every threat will be investigated and arrests will be made when warranted. “If you have not done so already, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making threats,” urges Sheriff Mancuso. “This is no joking matter and students need to know they will be arrested if they make threats toward a school.”

CPSO Detective Greg Jordan is the lead investigator on the case.
