Authorities Warn to Think Before You Share Back to School Photos

Authorities are warning parents and students to think before they share as back-to-school photos are filling social media feeds everywhere, often revealing personal information about your child. This information (school name, classroom, grade, age, and other identifying information) can all be used by predators, scammers, and other people looking to endanger your child, family, or finances.

No matter your privacy settings or friends list, it's best to keep personal information on the internet to the bare minimum.

Information authorities suggest that people don't share:
❌ School name
❌ Age
❌ Teacher's name and grade
❌ Identifying features (height, weight, etc.)
❌ Overly personal information (think items related to passwords or security question answers, etc.)

It is suggested that people take the photos for your memories, but do not share on social media, and if you do, be sure to leave out information that could put your child at risk.
