Authorities to Conduct DWI Checkpoint on February 18 in Lake Charles

Published February 15, 2022

Lake Charles, LA –The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that it will participate in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign by conducting a DWI checkpoint on Friday, February 18, 2022, at an undisclosed location in the parish.

This checkpoint will target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, which has been shown to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired, and people are more likely to designate a driver when sobriety checkpoints are conducted. The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission provided funding for this checkpoint. The Louisiana State Police Troop D and the Lake Charles City Police Department will be present at the checkpoint.
