Authorities Reschedule DWI Checkpoint in Calcasieu Parish for September 2

On August 26, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that due to weather, the checkpoint has been rescheduled for next Friday, September 2.

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office revealed on August 25, 2022, that it will participate in the national crackdown on drunk driving campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” and will conduct a DWI checkpoint on Friday, August 26 at an undisclosed location in the parish.
This checkpoint, according to the CPSO, will target persons driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, which has been shown to be very effective in preventing citizens from driving while impaired.
CPSO indicated that when people are aware that sobriety checkpoints are being conducted, they are more likely to designate a driver.
The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission provided funding for this checkpoint.
