Authorities Capture Suspects in Calcasieu Parish After Pursuit From Texas into Louisiana

ORIGINAL:

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – At approximately 3 am on October 7, 2023, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that deputies were at the scene near Broussard Road and Toomey Road in Starks, Louisiana.

At the time this was published, CPSO, was conducting a search for two suspects who were involved in a chase originating in Texas. The suspects were pursued by the Vidor Police Department until they crossed into Calcasieu Parish. Upon reaching mile marker 4, they exited the interstate and continued to flee.

Eventually, the suspects abandoned their vehicle, fired shots at officers, and escaped into the nearby woods.

At the time of this report, a perimeter was established and CPSO deputies were attempting to locating the suspects.

As a precautionary measure, a ring down of the area was conducted and residents in the area were advised to secure their homes.

Authorities are asking that anyone with any information or anyone who has observed any suspicious activity contact CPSO at 337-491-3605 or dial 911.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
