Lake Charles, LA – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has reported that they are investigating a hit and run that occurred on Friday, October 1, 2021, at approximately 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Topsy Road and Welcome Road in Gillis.
During the investigation into the hit and run, CPSO found that a pickup truck was traveling southbound on Welcome Road in Gillis when it ran a stop sign and struck an SUV that was traveling eastbound on Topsy Road. The impact of the truck forced the SUV off the roadway and caused it to overturn and travel across Cryer Road. The SUV struck a stop sign before coming to rest upside down in the ditch.
The suspect’s truck, described as burgundy or maroon colored with a chrome bumper, fled the scene heading eastbound on Topsy Road. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators believe that the truck will have damage to the front passenger side bumper as well as the front passenger side quarter panel.
The driver of the SUV along with 3 young passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance. If anyone has any information about this incident please call CPSO at 337-491-3605.
