A 14-year-old Lake Charles College Prep student has been arrested in connection with threats made toward the school between Friday, October 29, 2021, and Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated various threats regarding a shooting at Lake Charles College Prep between Friday, October 29, 2021, and Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
During the inquiry, investigators spoke with a 14-year-old LCCP student. During questioning, the girl admitted to being the one who made one of the threats. An IP address gathered during the investigations was also traced back to the student’s home address, according to detectives.

She was apprehended and is presently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center on terrorizing charges.

“We have a zero-tolerance when it comes to threatening harm to other students along with the faculty at our schools in Calcasieu Parish. It is not something that is taken lightly,” stated Sheriff Tony Mancuso. “I encourage parents to take the time to talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making these threats. Since January of this year, we have made 7 arrests for terrorizing; this is not a joking matter and students need to know they will be arrested if they make threats toward a school, staff, or other students. The safety of our children is always our top priority.”

In these cases, CPSO Detective Greg Jordan is the lead investigator. More arrests and charges are possible as the investigation continues.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
