Authorities in Louisiana Seeking Assistance Identifying Those Responsible for the Theft of a Fire Truck

Natchitoches, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons who stole a fire truck from Natchitoches Parish Fire District #10.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) reported on January 19, 2023, that shortly after 11:00 a.m., they requested the public’s assistance in locating a red 2019 Ford F-550 brush fire truck stolen from Natchitoches Parish Fire District #10 Fire Department in the 100 block of LA Hwy 485 in Powhatan, Louisiana.

NPSO reported that the story was shared by hundreds of their social media followers as well as media outlets.

Within 2 hours, at around 1:00 p.m., an NPSO social media follower contacted NPSO Chief Deputy Greg Dunn with information about the stolen vehicle off LA Hwy 3191 near Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene, arrived in the area, and discovered the vehicle about 200 yards off LA Hwy 3191 stuck in mud behind an old abandoned home.
The National Crime Information Center confirmed that the vehicle was stolen.

Detectives from the NPSO then responded to the crime scene.

Members of the Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #10 were contacted and dispatched to the scene to recover the vehicle.
The vehicle is said to be unharmed, but it will need to be thoroughly cleaned.

Detectives will now try to identify the suspect or suspects responsible for the fire truck burglary and theft. The vehicle was examined by detectives for DNA and fingerprint evidence.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked their social media followers and media partners for their assistance in this investigation, which resulted in the recovery of public safety equipment critical to saving property and lives in the Powhatan and District #10 areas.
