Authorities in Louisiana Seek Assistance Identifying Driver Involved in Double Fatal Hit and Run Crash on US 90

Louisiana – According to Louisiana State Police, on September 2, 2022, around 3:30 a.m., Troopers with LSP Troop B began investigating a hit and run crash on the upper level of US 90B west (Westbank Expressway) near Ames Boulevard in Jefferson Parish. Two unidentified adult males were killed in the crash.

A motorized scooter was being driven west in the middle lane of US90B upper level near Ames Boulevard, according to a preliminary examination. A pickup truck was following the scooter at the same time. The front of the pickup collided with the back of the scooter as it reached the scooter’s location. The impact ejected the driver and passenger from the scooter. The driver of the pickup truck failed to stop after the collision and drove west on 90B with the scooter wedged beneath the pickup truck. The scooter ultimately caught fire and detached itself from the pickup near Garden Road in Marrero.

Despite wearing DOT-approved helmets, both scooter passengers were killed. One of the occupants was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transferred to a nearby hospital, where he died. Troopers are attempting to identify the scooter’s driver and passenger.

Troopers determined that the suspect pickup is a 2004 white extended cab Ford F-150 with a silver toolbox in the bed based on evidence obtained at the scene. Louisiana State Police indicated that the front of the Ford will be severely damaged, and it may display the Texas license plate CCD3344.

The crash is still being investigated, and Troopers are attempting to identify the driver of the Ford. If you have any information on this crash, contact Louisiana State Police Troop B at 504-471-2775.
