Vernon Parish, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are investigating the theft of an estimated 1,100 gallons of fuel in Vernon Parish.
A business in Vernon Parish has reported a complaint of fuel theft, which is currently under investigation by the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office. The suspects have been able to manipulate the fuel pumps’ mechanics and have stolen an estimated 1,100 gallons of fuel.
This is not the first time such incidents have occurred, as a few months ago, VPSO made several arrests in connection to similar fuel thefts. According to authorities, the suspects, in that case, had Texas license plates and were of Hispanic descent.
The most recent incident occurred on July 21st, and the perpetrators were wearing reflective “construction type” clothing.
To prevent such incidents, store owners and employees are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals lingering at the pumps for an excessively long time. It is also recommended that fuel pumps be checked regularly throughout the day to ensure they have not been tampered with. Authorities also indicated that leaving pumps on overnight could increase the likelihood of fuel thefts.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
