Authorities in Louisiana Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting That Left One Dead and One Injured in Bastrop

Morehouse Parish, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one dead and one injured in Bastrop.

The Bastrop Police Department requested Troopers to investigate an officer-involved shooting at an address in the 400 Block of Smith Street, within the city boundaries of Bastrop, Louisiana, on May 18, 2023, at approximately 9:21 a.m., according to Louisiana State Police (LSP).

According to accounts from authorities, one person was shot and pronounced dead. Minor injuries were sustained by one officer.

Police are requesting anyone with information, photographs, or video to contact LSP Detectives at 318-345-0000.
