Authorities in Louisiana Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide at Hotel in Terrebonne Parish

Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a hotel in Terrebonne Parish.

On March 30, 2023, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet sadly announced that Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide, which occurred at a Houma, Louisiana hotel. According to authorities, the incident resulted in the death of one adult male and one adult female.

Officers from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were summoned to a hotel in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard on March 29, 2023, shortly before 12:00 PM, after reports of housekeeping workers uncovering two deceased bodies within a room. When deputies arrived, they discovered the bodies of an adult male and an adult female who had both been shot.
Both victims were declared dead at the scene.

Investigators concluded that the male individual, who is suspected of being the gunman, sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sloudies Keith Mosely, 36, of Houma, Louisiana was eventually identified as the male subject. The female victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members and further investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, but according to authorities, it appears that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

In a press release, Sheriff Soignet indicated that he wishes to express his heartfelt condolences to the families and individuals touched by this awful occurrence. Sheriff Soignet said, “These types of cases are always devastating for not only the families and friends of those involved, but for the communities we serve. Our agency is blessed with an amazing group of Detectives and Deputies who will always do what is necessary to bring some sense of closure to the families.”

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
