Authorities in Louisiana Asking for Help Identifying Shooter Who Shot Two People While Driving on LA Highway 480.
Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana – Authorities are asking for help in identifying the shooter who shot two people while they were driving on Louisiana State Highway 480.
The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) reported on May 11, 2023, that detectives are investigating the third shooting in Natchitoches Parish in less than 24 hours, which resulted in two people being shot while traveling on Louisiana Highway 480 east of Campti, Louisiana on the evening of May 10.
Authorities said that on May 10, 2023, at around 7:45 p.m., Deputies from the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau and Louisiana State Police were alerted to a single-vehicle crash in the 3700 block of LA Highway 480 between International Paper-Red River Mill and Campti, Louisiana.
A motorist called the NATCOM 911 Center and reported seeing the crash while driving on LA Hwy 480. When he pulled over to check on the vehicle’s occupants, he noticed that two of the three were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The motorist assisted and drove the gunshot victims to a Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS Trauma Unit and NPSO Deputies near Grand Ecore.
The victims, ages 19 and 17, were brought to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
More deputies and Louisiana State Police were dispatched to the crime scene, where they processed, photographed, and collected many bullet casings.
During the early stages of the investigation, detectives assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the crime scene and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and learned that a 19-year-old and two juveniles from Natchitoches were traveling from Coushatta to Natchitoches in a Honda passenger car on LA Hwy 480 east of Campti when an unknown suspect or suspects opened fire on them, striking the car several times and striking two of the three occupants.
According to detectives, the suspect or suspects fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
