Authorities in Louisiana Asking for Help Identifying Driver in Hit-and-Run Crash that Started a Fire in Moss Bluff

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are asking for help identifying the driver in a hit-and-run crash that started a fire in Moss Bluff.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on March 23, 2023, that it is investigating a hit-and-run that occurred in two neighborhoods off North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, during the early morning hours on Thursday, March 16.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the driver of the truck was traveling south on Haniel Drive as it approached the stop sign at the junction of Khamiel Drive. The vehicle reportedly drove straight through the stop sign, through the yards between the houses on Khamiel Drive and Poeyfarre Drive. The truck collided with an electrical box, creating a fire, and then fled the scene.

The vehicle is characterized as a dark-colored Ford F-250 with top-mounted cab lights. On both sides of the vehicle, there are illuminated F-250 insignia.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Sgt. Casey Steech at (337) 491-3846 and refer to case number 23-31277.

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
