Authorities in Louisiana Asking For Help Identifying Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Bicycle-Vehicle Crash on LA 93
St. Landry Parish, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana are asking for help in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run bicycle-vehicle crash on Louisiana State Route 93.
Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated on May 1, 2023, that shortly after 3:15 p.m. on April 30, Troopers from Troop I were notified of a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist in the 2600 block of Louisiana Highway 93 in the Sunset, Louisiana region. Randy Thibodeaux, 59, of Sunset, was killed in the crash.
Thibodeaux was riding his bicycle southbound on LA 93, north of LA 356 near Wild Rose Road, when he was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle, based on the initial investigation by State Police. The unknown vehicle departed the area after the crash. Thibodeaux was thrown from his bicycle after being hit. A family member discovered him in the ditch after searching for him since Friday night when Thibodeaux was last seen.
The St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Thibodeaux dead at the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time, although a standard toxicological sample was submitted for investigation.
Investigators indicated that they believe the suspect vehicle is a modern steel metallic (gray) colored 2013-2015 Honda Accord 2-door based on evidence at the scene. The right side mirror is missing, and the vehicle’s right side appears to be damaged.

So far in 2023, Troop I has investigated 20 fatal crashes that resulted in 22 deaths.
A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
