Authorities Asking for Help Identifying Carlyss Hit-and-Run Driver After a Pedestrian Was Seriously Injured

On June 19, 2021, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Gum Island Road in Carlyss in reference to a pedestrian/vehicle accident. They have been unable to identify the suspect vehicle and driver involved and are now asking for assistance from the public in identifying them.
The initial investigation revealed an unknown vehicle traveling westbound struck a pedestrian from behind sometime between 3:30 am and 4:00 a.m.; causing serious injuries to the pedestrian. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene of the accident.
The vehicle is believed to have suffered minor to moderate damages to the front bumper.
It is unknown at this time if the pedestrian was walking in the lane of travel.
Deputies attempted to identify the suspect vehicle, but have been unsuccessful and are asking anyone with information to call Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Casey Steech at 337-491-3846.
