Authorities Arrested a 29-Year-Old Louisiana Inmate Hiding in a Shed After He Escaped a Work-Release Detail
Union Parish, Louisiana – The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office (UPSO) has arrested a 29-year-old Louisiana inmate after he escaped a work-release detail.
On February 7, 2023, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that they were seeking the whereabouts of 29-year-old Ike Jermeze Strickland after he walked away from his work-release detail at the Marion Fire Department at approximately 7 AM in Marion, Louisiana.
Deputies spent the morning searching for Strickland in Marion, Louisiana, and surrounding areas. After an extensive investigation, information obtained by UPSO Criminal Investigations Division detectives indicated that the escapee was likely no longer in the Marion area. Strickland was also known to have ties to Tangipahoa Parish and authorities believed that he may have headed to that area of the state.
At approximately 8 PM on February 7, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that officers from the Marion Police Department and deputies from USPO had located the escaped inmate hiding in a shed on McVicker Street in Marion, Louisiana.
Strickland was taken into custody without incident.
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked everyone who shared information about the escape and provided information.
A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
