Authorities Arrest Louisiana Man for Allegedly Throwing Dogs, Entering a Home Without Permission, Other Crimes
Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – Authorities have arrested a Louisiana man for allegedly throwing dogs, entering a home without permission, and other crimes.
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on March 6, 2023, that on Sunday, March 5, 2023, Deputies were dispatched to an address in the 2000 Block of Jeff Davis Academy Road in Jennings, Louisiana, in reference to a male subject wearing blue jeans and a light-colored shirt and armed with a knife threatening to kill dogs in the area.
The reporting party informed dispatch that the person had gotten into a vehicle with a burnt headlight and believed they lived in the apartments up the road.
Jagger Dane Smith, 29, of Jennings, Louisiana, was interviewed by deputies. Smith allegedly admitted to chasing dogs around the area with a fixed-blade knife. According to witnesses, Smith scooped up a dog and flung it down on the ground, and the dog yelped. Smith then reportedly got into a verbal dispute with witnesses who saw Smith with a knife take a black and white dog by the neck from inside a house and slam it to the ground.
Smith was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
